Change Site Primary Domain

This shortcode allows you to change the primary domain of a specific site installed on your server. This is different from adding an alias to your site, as this changes the install name, primary domain name, SFTP users and directories.

Prerequisite: The new primary domain has to be installed as an alias before it can become a primary domain.

To run Nodalio shortcodes on your server, please follow this guide.

Shortcode usage format:

  • sudo nodalio sitechangeprimary primary.com newprimary.com.

Shortcode reference:

  • primary.com – your site’s primary domain/subdomain.
  • newprimary.com – your site’s new primary domain / subdomain.

Before changing the primary domain of a site on your server, it is recommended to take a snapshot of the site, just in case you need to restore it later. To find out more about snapshots, click here.

This modification usually takes less than 1 minute to complete, Once the site’s primary domain has been modified, an email confirming the modification will be sent to the server admin email.

Please note: this shortcode performs a complete search and replace of any references of primary.com and replaces them with newprimary.com.

The server admin email is the email you entered when creating the server / the first site on the server. To change the server admin email, use the serveradmin-email shortcode.
