Convert Wildcard to Support HTTPS

This shortcode allows you to create and install an SSL certificate on a domain wildcard installed on the primary domain of a site on your server.

To run Nodalio shortcodes on your server, please follow this guide.

Shortcode usage format:

  • sudo nodalio siteconverthttps-wildcard domain.com

Shortcode reference:

  • domain.com – your site’s primary domain/subdomain.

Domain wildcards can only be created for the primary domain of a site installed on your server. Before attempting to change the primary domain, you must delete the domain wildcard for the site first.

This shortcode will not work with the Nodalio Dashboard. You will need to use a a local terminal (mac) or Putty, with the ability to copy information as when attempting to issue an SSL certificate a verification key is generated and printed on-screen.

Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the key as a TXT record inside your DNS records. To find out more about DNS records, click here.

Once the verification key has been added as a TXT record, click the enter key and the installation process will continue automatically.

The SSL certificate installed on the site is issued by Let’s Encrypt and automatically renewed when required. You don’t need to take any additional actions regarding the wildcard SSL certificate for this site.
